Reclaiming Bank Charges

Do not delay: Act now!

On 27 July 2007, the Office of Fair Trading announced that a test case on bank charges is being referred to the High Court. The Financial Ombudsman Service has announced that pending the outcome of the case it has put its own work on hold; a similar response is expected from the county courts. The Financial Services Authority has issued a 'waiver' from its complaint handling rules which means that any bank or building society will not be required to handle complaints relating to unauthorised overdraft charges until the test case is settled.

You must still make your claim without delay: You can only claim for up to 6 years’ worth of bank charges. Your claim still has to be acknowledged by your bank from the date they receive it. If you delay your claim you could miss out on a proportion of your original bank charges.

Return your pack to Seeing Red immediately to avoid losing out.
